One thing I haven't invested in myself, but would likely help a lot is a good light setup. Depending on how complex you make your videos, really any computer can do editing and render videos, they may just be slow at it. I did buy a small tripod with bendable legs, which helps a lot. I use my cell phone to record (Galaxy S7). What kind of gear do you need (only have a crappy laptop, that can run stuff like TF2 and a cellphone so yeah.) Add a black outline to it, and a drop shadow, and boom, thumbnail.

I've got a font and text size I like to use, I'll pick the font color from the figure (usually a nice spot on their hair) or use white if I can't find something I like. The text I add is the character's name, the source they originate from (like the title of the anime), the manufacturer, and the scale. Then I'll look through them and find the one I think looks the best and will work with the text I add (usually one of the variations with the figure on the side rather than the center). I'll take at least at least 18 different pictures from certain angles (Full figure, and a little closer on their face, level, tilted left, tilted right, and with the figure on the left, center and right). After some trial and error, I've found a layout and process I like. How do you make thumbnails/is there a tutorial for it?Īgain, no real tutorial, and it's not very complicated. There's not many tutorials for it, but if you google and search YouTube, you can find a few. It can do a lot (way more than I really need), isn't giant, and is 100% free (though they do try to nag you a bit into buying a subscription). When I do, it's usually just cutting/splicing clips, overlaying a couple pictures here or there, throwing on some transitions, stuff like that. My style of videos (unboxing/first reactions) typically don't require much editing, so I'm not the biggest help here. Where can you find helpful tutorials about this subject? preferrably with free software
